A major fire in the Punat Marina on the island of Krk in Croatia caused fear and terror on the night of 22 December 2012. 20 yachts on a land mooring went up in flames.
The material damage was over EUR 2 million, and no-one seems to have been hurt. The fire was caused by a battery short circuit or a defective heater. The fire broke out on early Saturday morning, and the first heavy explosions shook the region of Punat a little later.
The affected customers of BAVARIA Yachtversicherungen received immediate assistance and support through the BAVARIA 24-hour helpline service. The experts have since issued their opinions.
